Bert Stern

Bert Stern is a celebrated fashion and advertising photographer of the 1960’s and 70’s whose well known images included Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Madonna, Kylie Minogue, and Drew Barrymore. His photographs have been featured in major style, fashion, and travel magazines around the world.

His best known work is arguably The Last Sitting, a collection of over 2,500 photographs taken of Marilyn Monroe over a three day period, only six weeks before her death, commissioned for Vogue magazine. The photos were taken at the Bel Air Hotel, CA where Marilyn once lived. These would be the most provocative, sensual photographs taken of the film legend, including the only nude photographs granted since the historic Playboy/ Calendar photos taken in 1952. Vogue selected only twenty of the photographs to be published in its memorial issue to Marilyn. The remaining images were all published in Bert Stern’s Book, Marilyn Monroe: The Complete Last Sitting, one of the greatest homages to Marilyn in pictures.
