Milton Greene "01" from "Marilyn with Lute"

Marilyn Monroe posed for Milton Greene for the first time in 1953 in what is referred to as the “Balalaika Sitting,” wherein, Monroe is actually holding a lute.” Upon seeing the proofs, Monroe told Greene that they were the most beautiful she had ever seen; however, aside from this photograph, the majority of images remain unpublished.
